My Mission & Story

Rooted in the values of hard work and resilience from my upbringing on a farm in northern Oklahoma, I bring the same grit and determination to every client partnership. My foundation in psychology and a master’s degree in industrial-organizational psychology set the stage for a career devoted to the intersection of people, systems, and performance.

Over the past 25 years, I’ve held leadership and talent development roles across industries including insurance, financial services, higher education, professional services, and nonprofit organizations. From shaping enterprise-wide learning programs at State Farm, to advising executives at Deloitte, to leading HR strategy at Tulsa Educare, my journey has consistently centered on helping leaders and teams reach their potential.

Most recently, at Oklahoma State University’s Center for Health Sciences, I directed talent management and designed resilience-based leadership programs such as Mindful First Responders—a statewide initiative that measurably reduced stress and improved performance in high-pressure professions. I also developed assessment-driven leadership programs using Hogan Assessments, helping individuals and teams gain strategic self-awareness and improve outcomes.

These experiences prepared me to launch Root Leadership Strategies, a boutique consulting firm dedicated to leadership development, mindfulness, and resilience-building programs. Whether guiding executives through assessment and coaching, integrating mindfulness into organizations facing high stress and burnout, or building resilient teams that can thrive under pressure, my mission is simple:   to help people and organizations unlock their full potential, grounded in science, mindfulness, and humanity.

Root Leadership Strategies exists today because colleagues and friends believed deeply in the impact of combining leadership science with mindfulness practices. Our services are designed for:

Effective leadership development begins with a strong foundation of self-awareness.  That’s why I partner with Hogan Assessments, a global leader in validated, reliable personality assessments.  These tools uncover individual and team insights that, when paired with an in-depth debrief, form the foundation for leadership growth and coaching engagements.

Mindfulness & Resilience Practices
Mindfulness isn’t just a concept—it’s a practice with measurable impact on performance, especially for individuals experiencing high levels of stress and burnout.  I bring specialized training in mindfulness-based stress reduction (MBSR) and resilience-building to help organizations determine if these practices can benefit their people.  Whether delivered onsite or virtually, programs are trauma-informed, evidence-based, and tailored to the unique needs of your workforce.
